I had this idea for bridal shower invites, and I went ahead on worked out a couple different designs that I now have up for sale on my Etsy store. Anyway, I’m a big fan of modern-day, retro-styled outfits, and so I wanted to draw some bride characters that had this feel and incorporate them into bridal shower invitations. I wanted them to be bold, modern and a little bit different from the fluffy, light-hearted bridal invitations I’m use to seeing.
I feel like this one has a sort of bold, sophisticated look – with a big dash of fun.

And this one is just all over fun and sassy, and sweet too! I love the big round balloon.

Well – I finally mailed them out! So I thought I’d upload an image of the final product
I actually have the design for “sale” on my Etsy store as well.

I hear a lot of people really liked how they turned out! I should take a pic of the final deal, with pink sparkly envelope and address sticker. I was able to print the address on the front with my inkjet, which I was surprised, since the paper is metallic it is very slick and occasionally the ink smears. But sometimes it’ll workout – makes me wonder if the makeup of certain metallic papers are different.
Anyway, it was a fun project – can’t wait to move on to other wedding projects!
One of my favorite clients, Kristina Samaritano, asked me to do a cartoon portrait of her with a few touches of her love for disney. And this is what I came up with, which she had printed out on an oversized magnet!

I gotta say – it came out pretty cute, and she’s uber happy! Love doing fun portraits for people!
I was helping out a friend of mine, the one I did save the dates for, and came up with this cute wedding invite! I’m offering the design in my Etsy shop too. I think it came out pretty cute and I had a lot of fun doing it. I really enjoy working in this sketchy style, and definitely doing anything wedding related tops my list!

And here’s the adorable printout! I think paired with a nice shimmer envelope, it definitely makes for a unique but refined invitation.

Heh – my friend Aaron proposed to his girlfriend around the same time I got engaged! But his wedding is going to be end of October – super fast! And nooo – it’s not what you think, lol
To help them out, I offered to do their save the dates and invites for free. I love working on fun, unique concepts, and they are such a young couple, totally creative and open. They had an idea though, and I worked off of that.
And here’s what I did for them!

I’m happy to say, they really liked the results! And I’ve got my inspiration for my own save the dates
Directory of Illustration deadline is May 5th so I had to scramble and come up with a new piece! Girls in cute outfits – duh! This wasn’t the entire page of course, I included other pieces too for variety, but it’s always good practice to do something new. Besides – it was nice to do something just for me.
I recently did some illustrations for a new cosmetic line, My Body. Really likeĀ the way they turned out – I was working with their color palette and for an older audience. These illustrations describe certain processes and are accompanied with text which I left out.

The trains were the most challenging since I had to draw trains from different time eras and I have a harder time drawing things that I don’t understand – like the wheels, lol. I get hung up on, does this look like it mechanically works correctly? It’s just a picture, right? But you can tell if something looks off .. I think they came out really slick though!
Just completed the graphics for the iPhone app, Big Sounds! The author, Dragosaurus, wanted the game to basically look like a sound device. Something slick with a web 2.0 look, and with arcade style buttons. I thought something remotely retro would really help push the overall look and feel of the app and set it apart from the other apps of similar nature. I am really happy with how the app turned out, and I gotta say, the graphics sure do make the app stand out in comparison with competitor apps.

It’s a fun app, and darn inexpensive, so download it now and give it a whirl!
Another fun and recent project were these illustrations I did for Braid Girlz. It was a different style then I normally work in, which made it a challenge. I really enjoyed working on them though!

They wanted to make sure each girl had a distinctive personality and color palette. I liked working with the crazy bright colors, plus coming up with the different outfits. Love doing any kind of fashion design! And heck, I enjoyed doing all the sparkles, glitter and bling!
Hey hey hey! Been a while, I know. Work has been keepin’ me busy, and then celebrating my 30th birthday in Hong Kong – which was a much needed vacation – then coming back and needing to get some rest from my vacation, as well as getting back into the groove of work.
One of the most recent pieces I did for Little Passports was a new souvenir for their France package. They wanted me to design and illustrate a poster. I came up with this little beauty and I gotta say, I am pretty darn happy with it! I love the vintage feel we were aiming, and I think that I still manage to keep a vibrant palette that is attractive to a kid audience. This was definitely one of the more fun and creative projects I had gotten – I felt really challenged with the request to incorporate a lot of different elements, from text, to an overall illustration, plus the small illustrations at the bottom that are representative of France.

I wish I got more fun projects like this; that really gets the creativity flowing. Of course – I also wish I got longer deadlines, lol.
